The system is then built and charged at 20% of the measured cost per item processed. The upfront cost is set against the size of the build. Nothing further is invoiced until the system is live, and it goes live only on your approval.

What does automation cost, and how is the price worked out?
There is a small upfront cost, scaled to the size of the build and agreed before any work starts. After that the fee is 20% of what the process costs you to run manually, charged per item processed, with a minimum of £250 a month. How long before the system is doing real work?
The audit takes one call of roughly 45 minutes plus the measurement work afterwards. A typical build runs a few weeks, then the system sits in shadow mode alongside your team for as long as you want before it makes a single real decision. You pay nothing while it is running in shadow mode.
What happens if the process turns out not to be worth automating?
We tell you, and that is a legitimate outcome of the audit rather than a failure of it. You keep the cost report either way. Automating a process that costs you very little is how people end up paying more for the system than the job it replaced.
Which processes are worth automating first?
High volume, repetitive, rule-based work where the same decision is made many times a day against written criteria. Claims and application assessment, document and email handling, quotes and pricing, and moving information between systems that have no integration. Judgement-heavy work with few repetitions is usually the wrong place to start. Work out which process to measure.
Who owns the system and the code once it is built?
You do. The source code, the hosting accounts and every credential the system uses are in your name from the start. There is no licence, no platform fee and nothing that stops you taking the system to another engineer. The full answer.
What happens if the automation gets something wrong?
Nothing goes live until it has run in shadow mode on real work, making no real decisions, so you can compare its judgement against your team's before it is switched on. Once live, every decision is logged with the rule that produced it, and anything falling outside the rules is passed to a person rather than guessed at. How shadow mode works.
